The fourth generation Escape went on sale in the third quarter of 2019 as a 2020 model, built at Louisville in Kentucky. It was lighter by over 200 pounds yet larger, with sliding second row seats on the combustion models, and was offered with a 181 horsepower 1.5 liter three cylinder turbo, a 250 horsepower 2.0 liter turbo, a hybrid returning after a long absence and a new plug in hybrid. In Australia it arrived in the third quarter of 2020.
