2019 was the last year of the third generation Escape, as the fourth generation debuted on 2 April 2019 and went on sale in the third quarter of 2019 as a 2020 model. The third generation had been designed with Ford of Europe alongside the Kuga, and in many markets the Escape name had been replaced by Kuga under One Ford, though the Middle East still used it. It was built at Louisville in Kentucky.
