The van grew in size for 1990, with a 124 inch short wheelbase that was half an inch longer than the previous long wheelbase chassis and a new long wheelbase of 138 inches, the longest wheelbase of any full size van. The 124 inch Econoline cargo van was discontinued after the 1990 model year. The E Series was Ford's full size van, sold as the Econoline and Club Wagon and as a cutaway chassis. It was the best selling full size van in the United States from 1980 until the Transit replaced the vans in 2014.
