The 1956 300B was fairly similar externally to the C-300, distinguished by a new tailfin treatment, but it had larger engines, a choice of two versions of the 354 cubic inch Hemi V8 producing 340 or 355 horsepower. With the optional 10 to 1 compression it became the first American car to produce one horsepower per cubic inch. NASCAR team owner Carl Kiekhaefer raced 300Bs and won 22 of 41 races, 16 of them consecutively, and colors were Regimental Red, Cloud White and Black.
