The C-300 of 1955, the first letter series car, carried no letter and can be considered the 300A in retrospect. It had a 300 horsepower 331 cubic inch FirePower Hemi V8, and for marketing the car was called the 300 to underline the engine's output. Its 100 Million Dollar Look styling used the front clip of that year's Imperial, a New Yorker hardtop midsection and a Windsor rear quarter. It was timed at 127.58 miles per hour in the Flying Mile and did well in NASCAR, but sold only 1,725 at $4,100.
