For the 2020 model year the base L trim received the 16 inch aluminum alloy wheels of the LS trim, replacing the steel wheels with plastic covers. All trim levels received the eight inch Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system as standard equipment, and the earlier seven inch touchscreen unit was discontinued. The Malibu was by then the only Chevrolet mid size sedan, and it had lost the hybrid for 2020. The Malibu was built at the Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas City, Kansas.
