The 1976 Camaro changed little, with a brushed metal insert on the rear tail section of the LT model the most notable difference. Sales jumped significantly, making it the best year so far for the second generation, and the figures were to improve further as the decade went on. In 1976 the Pontiac Trans Am sold over 46,000 cars and accounted for half of all Firebird sales, which led Chevrolet to revive the Z28 as a model of its own the next spring.
