By the late 1960s and the introduction of the Caprice, the Bel Air and its Biscayne stablemate were marketed mainly to fleet customers, though it stayed available to retail customers who wanted a basic full size car that was better trimmed than the low line Biscayne. When the Biscayne was discontinued after 1972 the Bel Air became the lowest model, and the last Bel Airs for the United States were built for 1975. Its model years run from 1971 to 1975.
