1955 Chevrolet Bel Air

Automobiles

The Bel Air was restyled for the 1955 model year and Chevrolets gained a V8 engine option, with the choice of the two speed Powerglide automatic or a standard three speed Synchro Mesh manual with optional overdrive. The 1955 Bel Air was very well received, and air conditioning, with outlets on each side of the dashboard, was a new option for V8 cars. The Nomad station wagon was assigned to the Bel Air series from 1955, and a black 1955 Bel Air starred in the 1973 film American Graffiti.
