The Sixteen was announced as a medium saloon above the Seven and the Twelve. The first name of the car was Austin Sixteen Light Six, and in 1930 the Light Six was dropped and it became the Austin Sixteen. From 1933 an 18 horsepower engine was offered at no extra charge, and in mid 1937 the body was replaced by a new shape available only with that engine, the Austin Eighteen. Its model years run from 1927 to 1937.
