The 1999 Acura TL was the first of the second generation, a car derived from the American Accord platform and built at the Marysville plant in Ohio, with the first one assembled on August 4, 1998. Only a 3.2 litre 225 horsepower VTEC V6 was offered, with a four-speed automatic with SportShift. The five-cylinder 2.5 was dropped. A CD-based navigation system was the sole option, and cabin air filters were standard.
