The 2009 RL received what Acura called its most extensive mid-model change ever. A 3.7 litre VTEC V6 with 300 horsepower replaced the 3.5 litre engine, using VTEC on both the intake and exhaust sides of a single-cam Honda V6 for the first time. The suspension got stiffer springs and bars, 18 inch wheels were fitted, the front seats were revised with ventilation, and an Active Sound Control system reduced noise. It reached dealers on July 1, 2008.
