For 2021 the NSX gained a Long Beach Blue Pearl color. As 2021 closed, Honda stopped building the NSX for every remaining market and said that one limited Type S would be made in 2022. The Type S was announced in early August 2021 and unveiled at Monterey Car Week on 12 August; its first car was auctioned two days later for 1.1 million dollars to Rick Hendrick, who had also bought the first 2016 car. Applications for purchase in Japan opened on 2 September 2021.

At the end of 2021, Honda stopped producing the NSX for all other markets and stated that only a limited run Type S variant will be produced in 2022.
NSX Type S
