Avro, the company of Alliott Verdon Roe, was a British aircraft manufacturer founded in 1910 at Manchester, and later part of Hawker Siddeley. It made the Avro 504 trainer of the First World War, the Anson, and the Lancaster heavy bomber that was central to Bomber Command in the Second World War. After the war it produced the Vulcan delta-wing bomber, one of the three V bombers of the Royal Air Force, and the Avro Canada group built the Arrow interceptor.
