The Avro Vulcan is a British four engine jet bomber that entered Royal Air Force service in 1956, recognizable for its large delta wing and built as one of three V bombers developed to carry Britain's nuclear deterrent during the Cold War. Its best known combat use came in the 1982 Falklands War, when Vulcans flew the long range Black Buck bombing raids against Argentine positions, among the longest ranged bombing missions in history to that point.
