The third generation premiered at the Los Angeles show in early December 2009 for the 2011 model year and arrived at dealers in February 2010. It continued the 3.5 liter V6 with a six speed transmission and, for the first time, offered a four cylinder engine in the Sienna. It was the first Sienna to earn a Top Safety Pick award from the insurance institute, it was the only North American minivan with all wheel drive until the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica, and it gained an eight speed automatic for 2017 and a mild facelift for 2018.
