The Simca Cargo was the name carried from 1955 to 1956 by a light truck that Ford SAF had designed in 1948 and sold from 1950 as the Ford Cargo. When Simca bought Ford SAF and its Poissy factory in July 1954 the truck was renamed. It kept its side-valve Ford V8 of about 3.9 litres and 95 to 100 hp, with a forward cab built by Fernand Genève and a Hercules diesel as the alternative. In 1956 production moved to the Unic works and the truck became the Unic Cargo, with civilian versions to 1960 and a French army version, 9,725 of them 4x2 and 14,645 of them 4x4, built until 1966. The source treats the Ford Cargo, Simca Cargo and Unic Cargo as one design under successive names.
