The Shelby Cobra is an American sports car produced from 1962 onward, created by racing driver Carroll Shelby by fitting a powerful American V8 engine into a lightweight British AC Ace roadster chassis. Built to compete against Ferrari in international sports car racing, it combined light weight with high power and became one of the most celebrated American performance cars of its era.
