The Saab 9-X Biohybrid was a concept car developed by Saab in 2008 and first shown at the Geneva Motor Show. It is based on the GM Delta platform and was thought to give an idea of the cancelled Saab 9-1X. It has keyless entry and small cameras in place of rear view mirrors, and a solar panel on the roof, as on the Saab EV-1, to charge the battery while driving and parked. The front follows the design of the Saab Aero-X, while the rear has a cut off look like the Saab 9-X. A direct injected, E85 flex fuel capable, turbocharged 1.4 litre inline four of 200 hp (149 kW) is helped by GM's BAS+ hybrid system, which can add a boost of up to 19 hp, and drives through a six speed manual gearbox with automatic clutch. It reaches 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, has a top speed of 216 km/h and seats four, though rear headroom is restricted. A rear spoiler extends above 70 km/h and also acts as an air brake.
