Saab 9-X

Automobiles

The Saab 9-X was a concept car by the Swedish car manufacturer Saab Automobile, designed by a group of ten Saab designers, among them Michael Mauer and the project leader Anthony Lo, and first shown in September 2001 at the Frankfurt Auto Show. It was designed to combine the qualities of a coupe, a roadster, a station wagon and a pickup truck in one car. The concept used a four wheel drive system together with an all aluminium 3.0 litre turbocharged V6 of 300 hp (224 kW), mated to a six speed manual gearbox and 19 inch tyres. Among its features were fibre optic headlights and a completely keyless ignition system. It is the first of the 9-X family of concepts that Saab showed, followed by the 9-X Biohybrid and 9-X Air of 2008.
