Saab 9-3 II

Automobiles

The Saab 9-3 II is the second generation of the Saab 9-3, sold in France between 2002 and 2011. It was developed on General Motors' Epsilon platform and, unlike the first generation, has no tailgate on the saloon, so it differs deeply from the 9-3 that came before. Body styles were a four door saloon, a convertible from 2003 to 2012, a five door estate from 2005 to 2011, sold in France as the 9-3 Sport-Hatch, and from 2009 a crossover derivative of the estate called the 9-3X. Engines ranged from 1.8 and 2.0 litre petrol units to a 2.8 litre V6 turbo in the Aero, many of them BioPower flex-fuel engines able to run on E85, and 1.9 litre diesels from Fiat. The car won five stars in Euro NCAP testing, convertible included. After the Saab Automobile bankruptcy, NEVS restarted saloon production in Trollhattan in December 2013 and it stopped again on 20 May 2014 when suppliers were not paid.
