The Renault Samsung SM3 Z.E. is the all-electric variant of the second generation SM3, shown at the 2011 Seoul Motor Show and based on the Renault Fluence Z.E., with part of its development financed by the South Korean government. Mass production began at the Busan factory in October 2013, and in its second marketing year and first with Korean assembly it led electric car sales in South Korea with a 58 percent market share, 453 cars. The company credited its AC-3 charger, longer range than rivals and a better battery warranty. In November 2017 a new version raised the range by 57 percent to 213 kilometres on the Korean test cycle.
