The third generation GTO of 1973 was an option on the base LeMans coupe and the LeMans Sport Coupe, restyled for new federal laws that demanded front bumpers capable of withstanding 5 mile per hour impacts. The overall styling of the 1973 Pontiac A body intermediates was generally not well received by the public. It was a one year generation. The Pontiac A body intermediates were the LeMans, Luxury LeMans, GTO and Grand Am that year.
