The G6 shared the General Motors Epsilon platform with the Chevrolet Malibu, the Saab 9-3 and other General Motors vehicles, and was first shown at the 2003 North American International Auto Show as a concept car. Coupes and convertibles ceased production at the end of the 2009 model year, and General Motors announced after entering bankruptcy that the G6 sedan would be discontinued in 2010. Its model years run from 2005 to 2010.
