The 1971 GTX moved to the redesigned B body with rounded fuselage styling, a raked windshield, hidden cowl and a loop bumper around a deeply inset grille. It was the final year for the GTX as a stand alone model and the convertible was dropped. Engine choices were the 440 four barrel, the 440 Six Pack and the 426 Hemi, all detuned by emission rules, and rising insurance rates cut sales. Its only model year in this form is 1971.
