The B body was redesigned for 1971 with rounded fuselage styling, and the GTX of that year was the final one as a stand alone model. The convertible was dropped. Emission rules cut the base 440 to 370 horsepower and the Six Pack to 385, while the Hemi stayed at 425, and rising insurance rates for muscle cars brought sales down. From 1972 to 1974 a Road Runner ordered with the 440 was called the Road Runner GTX.
