The first GTX was introduced for 1967 as the Belvedere GTX, a mid-size Belvedere with a blacked out grille, a special rear panel, fiberglass hood scoops with optional racing stripes, a chrome pop open fuel cap and a console mounted tachometer. The 440 Super Commando with 375 horsepower was standard, the 426 Hemi was optional, and a heavy duty suspension came with both. Plymouth positioned it as a gentleman's muscle car. Its only model year in this form is 1967.
