The Pininfarina Sintesi is a four-door, four-seat concept car that the Italian design house Pininfarina unveiled at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show to show how it imagined the car of the future. Its name is the Italian word for synthesis. The idea it promoted, called Liquid Packaging, spreads a fuel cell powertrain around the car instead of packing a bulky engine in one place, which frees space for the passengers without spoiling the low, tapered and aerodynamic shape. Four fuel cells of a Quadrivium system developed with Nuvera sit near the wheels, giving a total output of about 522 kilowatts and a projected top speed of 185 kilometres per hour. A second idea, Transparent Mobility, pictured cars exchanging information wirelessly with other vehicles and traffic through the Clancast system. The design won a Red Dot Award in 2008.
