Morris CDSW

Trucks and Commercial Road Vehicles

The Morris CDSW 6x4 was a six-wheeled artillery tractor built by Morris Commercial and brought into British Army service in the early to mid-1930s to tow field guns. It typically pulled the 18-pounder field gun and the 4.5-inch howitzer, and later the 25-pounder gun-howitzer that replaced them, and with a modified body it also hauled the 40mm Bofors gun in the light anti-aircraft regiments. A version fitted with a crane was used for breakdown work. For its main towing role it was largely replaced by the Morris C8 Quad. The letters of the designation stand for the C model, the double rear axle, the six-cylinder engine and the winch, and Morris Commercial's own vehicle list gives its production years as 1935 to 1939.
