Mercury Marquis (third generation)

Automobiles

For the 1979 model year Mercury introduced the third generation Marquis, the first ground up redesign of the full size range since 1969. It shed 17 inches in length and over 1,000 pounds against 1978, and for the first time since 1955 the full size Mercury wagon had a curb weight under 4,000 pounds. It was based on the rear wheel drive Ford Panther platform, with a V8 as standard. Its model years run from 1979 to 1982.
