The Maserati Kyalami is a four-seat GT coupe built by Maserati from 1976 to 1983 and named for the Kyalami circuit in South Africa, where a Maserati-powered Cooper T81 won the 1967 South African Grand Prix. It was the first new model developed under Alejandro de Tomaso, who reworked the Tom Tjaarda-designed Longchamp, giving it Pietro Frua restyling, quad round headlamps and a quad-cam Maserati V8 in place of the Ford V8. The 4.2 litre engine gave 265 PS and a 4.9 litre version followed in 1978, with a ZF five-speed manual or a Borg Warner automatic. Maserati claimed 240 km/h. It was not a sales success, with 210 built.
