The Maserati Khamsin (Tipo AM120) is a grand tourer built by Maserati from 1974 to 1982, named after a hot Egyptian desert wind. It appeared as a concept on the Bertone stand at the November 1972 Turin Auto Show, styled by Marcello Gandini in his first work for Maserati, and the production car was shown at the March 1973 Paris Motor Show. Developed under Citroën ownership as a front-engined alternative to the mid-engined Bora, it used the 4.9 litre V8 from the Ghibli SS, producing 330 PS, with Citroën hydraulics for the steering, brakes and headlights. A 1977 facelift added slats to the nose. Production ended in 1982 with 435 cars made, 155 of them exported to the United States.
