The Maserati Coupé and Spyder are a series of grand tourers built by Maserati from 2001 to 2008, the four-seat coupe and the two-seat convertible, and are commonly both called the 4200 GT after their 4.2 litre engine. Both were designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Italdesign on the basis of the 3200 GT, with interiors by Enrico Fumia, and were built at the Viale Ciro Menotti plant in Modena. The 4,244 cc Ferrari-Maserati F136 V8 is naturally aspirated and rated at 287 kW, replacing the twin-turbocharged engines of the previous twenty years, and the gearbox was a six-speed manual or the Cambiocorsa automated manual. The Spyder marked Maserati's return to North America after an 11-year gap. In total 13,423 were built before the GranTurismo replaced them.
