The Maserati 3200 GT is a four-seat grand tourer built by Maserati from 1998 to 2002, replacing the Shamal as the marque's flagship grand tourer. Italdesign, under Giorgetto Giugiaro, designed the coupe body and Enrico Fumia the interior. It is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.2 litre V8 rated at 370 PS, with a drag coefficient of 0.34, and it was the first car in the world with full LED tail lights, shaped like a boomerang. Maserati wanted to call it Mistral but Volkswagen held the rights, so it took the name 3200 GT in honour of the 3500 GT. An automatic Automatica joined in 1999, a limited Assetto Corsa followed in 2001, and 4,795 cars were built before the Maserati Coupe replaced it.
