The first generation MKX was manufactured from 2007 to 2015 on the CD3 platform. It debuted in December 2006 as a rebadged variant of the Ford Edge, after Lincoln first showed it as the Aviator concept at the 2004 Detroit show, and its name led Honda to sue Ford in January 2006 over the similarity with Acura's MDX. It was refreshed for 2011 with a new interior and a 305 horsepower 3.7 liter V6. Its model years run from 2007 to 2015.
