The first generation Capri was sold from 1952 to 1955, a premium trim of the Cosmopolitan that became the flagship by default after the Continental was discontinued in 1948. It competed against the Cadillac Series 62, Chrysler New Yorker and Packard Pacific, with the new overhead valve Lincoln Y block V8. In 1955 it used a 341 cubic inch engine with 225 horsepower on a 123 inch wheelbase. Its model years run from 1952 to 1955.
