The Infiniti Essence is a concept sports car that Infiniti, the luxury division of Nissan, showed at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show to mark the twentieth anniversary of the brand. It is a hybrid, pairing a twin-turbocharged 3.7 litre V6 gasoline engine of 440 PS with an electric motor of 160 PS fed by a lithium-ion battery under the trunk, for a combined 600 PS. The design was led by Infiniti design director Takashi Nakajima as a modern take on coke bottle styling, with the interior first conceived at Nissan Design Europe in London and then developed and built in Japan. A three-piece Louis Vuitton luggage set fits the trunk, and side and back collision prevention sensors warn the driver and apply the brakes. It was not expected to reach production, though some elements were planned for later Infiniti models.
