Honda introduced the first generation CBR900RR in 1992 with an inline four engine of 893 cc; it was based on a research model Honda called the CBR750RR, whose 750 cc engine had a longer stroke to reach 893 cc. It had a dry weight of just 185 kg, and at 205 kg wet it was only 1.8 kg heavier than the CBR600F2. The second generation of 1995 incorporated changes in damping and spring rates, an aluminum upper cowl stay and more aggressive fox-eye styling. Each model year has its own page.
