The XL series of early 1962 brought some local design changes, such as a heavier suspension system with components from the Fairlane, and a new Thunderbird roofline. The slogan was Trim, Taut, Terrific. New for the XL series were the top of the range Falcon Futura sedan and the Falcon Squire station wagon with simulated woodgrain paneling. The Falcon was still widely perceived as unsuitable for local conditions. Its model years run from 1962 to 1963.
