The Datsun Type 15 was a small car produced in Japan from May 1936 to April 1937, derived from the Datsun Type 14 and larger than it. Its Type 7 side valve engine was kept but given a higher compression ratio, raising output to 16 PS, and drove the rear wheels through a three speed gearbox for a top speed of 80 km/h. The wheelbase was 2,005 mm. Shortages of material caused by the war in Manchuria meant less chrome and a sparser interior, though every car had bumpers, and the front end recalled American cars of the day on a smaller scale. Most were sold at home and 87 were exported. A Datsun 15T truck based on it was built until April 1938. The Datsun Type 16 replaced the car.
