The Datsun Type 13 was a small car built by Nissan from July 1934 until March 1935, a more stylish successor to the 1933 Type 12 with the same 12 PS 747 cc engine and three-speed manual gearbox. Its fully chromed, heart-shaped grille was tilted back about ten degrees, and pressed steel wheels replaced the cast spoked ones. Bodies included a phaeton, a roadster, a sedan with suicide doors, a panel van and, for the first time, a truck version called the Type 13T. It was popular as a taxi in Japan and was the first Datsun to be exported, with 44 cars going mainly to South Africa and Australia. It was the last Datsun built mainly by subcontractors before integrated series production began in 1935, so surviving bodywork varies widely.
