Daihatsu Tanto

Automobiles

The Daihatsu Tanto is a kei car made by the Japanese carmaker Daihatsu. It was introduced at the 2003 Tokyo Motor Show as a vehicle based on the tall body style of the Move, and it was followed by the Tanto Custom in July 2005. The name Tanto is derived from the Italian, Spanish and Portuguese word for so much or a lot. The Tanto FCHV, a fuel cell hybrid vehicle prototype based on the Tanto Custom with a hydrogen tank and electric motors added, was introduced at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show. From May 2012 the Eco Idle system was fitted to the turbocharged Custom RS model, and in September 2013 the second generation was discontinued in favour of the third. Subaru has sold the car as the Subaru Chiffon since December 2016.
