The first generation Tahoe carried the name of Chevrolet's full size SUV from 1995, when the division renamed the Blazer as the Tahoe, after GMC had renamed its own full size SUV the Yukon in 1992. It was built on the GMT400 architecture first introduced for 1988 and began as a three door wagon, with a five door wagon added for 1995 that eventually replaced the three door body. Its model years run from 1995 to 1999.
