The third generation Silverado, the GMT K2XX, was introduced on December 13, 2012 in Detroit as the fully redesigned 2014 Silverado, with a new High Country top trim level, the first Chevrolet entry into the luxury truck market since the 1955 to 1959 Cameo Carrier. The first production truck was built on April 29, 2013. Its model years run from 2014 to 2018. On January 10, 2014 a recall was issued for 370,000 Silverado and Sierra pickups over a fire risk, and the 5.3 liter V8 was available on all trims and standard on the LTZ, High Country, SLT and Denali.
