Chevrolet El Camino (first generation, 1959 to 1960)

Automobiles

The first El Camino was introduced for the 1959 model year, two years after the Ford Ranchero, and was based on the new Brookwood two door station wagon of the redesigned full size Chevrolet, on the B body with the X frame and a 119 inch wheelbase. It was promoted as the first Chevrolet pickup with a steel bed floor instead of wood, and its first run lasted only two years. Its model years run from 1959 to 1960.
