The Cadillac Allanté is a two-door, two-seat luxury convertible roadster marketed by Cadillac for the 1987 to 1993 model years, with either a standard or an optional removable hardtop. In an unusual arrangement it used a Cadillac chassis and mechanicals while its bodywork was made in Italy by Pininfarina and airfreighted to Detroit for final assembly. General Motors chose the Allanté name from 1,700 computer-generated candidates, and over 21,000 were made over seven years. It was the first modern-era two-passenger Cadillac roadster and the first to wear the Cadillac name since the Series 355 roadster of the 1930s.
