The Aston Martin Vantage of 2005 is a series of sports cars from the British maker Aston Martin, the modern car being the leanest and most agile in its lineup and intended to reach buyers of cars such as the Porsche 911 as well as the exotic sports and GT cars with which Aston Martins traditionally compete. Following the AMV8 Vantage concept shown at the 2003 North American International Auto Show, the production V8 Vantage was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 2005 for the 2006 model year as a two-seat, two-door coupé with a bonded aluminium structure. It was initially powered by a 4.3-litre quad-cam 32-valve V8 producing 380 bhp, or 283 kilowatts, and models built after 2008 had a 4.7-litre V8 with 420 bhp. The engine was front mid-mounted with a rear-mounted transaxle for a 49:51 weight distribution, and the first version could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds and reach 175 mph. It became the most successful model in Aston Martin's history, with chassis number 10,000 completed in the first half of 2008. Production of the V8 Vantage ended in 2017, and the V12 Vantage continued until 2018.
