The SLX was a full-size SUV that Acura sold in the United States for the 1996 to 1999 model years, and it was no more than a lightly upgraded and rebadged Isuzu Trooper. It came about through a working relationship between General Motors, Isuzu and Honda, under which Honda also sold the Trooper in Japan as the Horizon. Acura used it to fill the SUV gap until it built its own. The SLX sold poorly, was dropped after 1999, and was replaced by the MDX, which went on sale for 2001.
