The US specification of the Trailseeker had its world premiere at the New York International Auto Show on 18 April 2025, together with the improved Solterra. The European specification was announced on 19 July 2025 under the name E-Outback, and the Japanese specification was shown as the Trailseeker prototype at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 on 29 October. It was developed with Toyota, as the first electric vehicle that Subaru made itself, though planned and led by Subaru.
