In 2024 the Carol was in its third year as the eighth generation, an OEM version of the ninth generation Suzuki Alto with the grades GS, GX and GL, offered only as hybrids, and the same as the Alto but for the emblem. Mazda sold it in Japan as a kei car that Suzuki manufactured, as it had since the Autozam Carol of 1989. The eighth generation Carol is based on the ninth generation Alto. The Carol is a rebadged model manufactured by Suzuki for Mazda.
